The ways I work:
Clients I work with:
Profile: I have a private practice in High Wycombe and I have experience of working both long-term and in a time-limited way with clients. Over the last 12.5 years if I have helped clients to not only overcome such issues as depression, and low-self esteem but also to understand their underlying causes. For me the essence of good therapeutic work is helping the client to have a better relationship with themselves. I would see that an important aspect of this is focusing on the therapeutic relationship as this can hold the key to many of the difficulties experienced by the client both in their inner and outer worlds. I see that our bodies are integral to any psychotherapeutic work because as we learn more from neuroscience we are seeing how our minds and body are intimately connected. I have the ability to work flexibly and sensitively with clients in order to help them to find a way to move forward. I am particularly interested in work with ambivalence around parenting: and this might include the difficult decision about whether to be a parent or not. This decision of course affects men as well as women. I frequently run CPD workshops on this theme. I am also an associate lecturer with the Open University, where I teach psychotherapy and counselling. I also run a school counselling service in the West of London. Qualifications and Accreditations: Chiron Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy UKCP CABP BACP Certificate in working with post-traumatic stress disorder. Certificate in symptoms focussed short-term therapy. MAEd I am currently in my 2nd year of a PhD at the Centre for Psychoanalysis at Essex University. My specialism is 'Elective childlessness in British men and women'. Affiliations: .. Other relevant Training: I have completed a certificate in mindfulness based cognitive training. I have also been trainined in working with issues relating to infertility. I offer biodynamic massage. Theoretical Approach: My theoretical approach is integrative. The notion of mind/body connection is embedded in my thinking, life and in my work. I will work with the here and now but will also pay attention to how our unconscious wants to speak to us. This may arise through dreams and images or through a lack of congruence between what is being said and how this is manifested in the body. Language:
